Sad to report that until further notice, KBRS races will not be held due to the low water conditions. Only a very few boats are able to sail, which makes it impractical. Hope that rain comes early this fall so possibly we can salvage some KBRS racing.  Here's a link that gives measure to the lack of rain:

Committe boat problems again. No race held

7-18
The last scheduled race of the 2012 spring series was looking good, but then the committee boat lost propulsion while setting the course. Sounds like the motor has transmission problems. Consequently the series is in the books with only 4 races counting. That includes several skippers who had pulled their boats weeks ago due to the low water.  Check the results.  The committee boat being out of commission puts next week's race in question, so we will advise as news develops. In addition, the kbrs cookout scheduled for next week will be postponed until more comfortable weather conditions.

7-11
Light winds made for a slow 2 mile race tonight. Mark Simpson was first in cruising fleet, Douthit/Olsen in racing fleet, Larry Greenwood in multihull, and Amos Cape led the way in China fleet. Come out next week and race with us!

7-4
Collossus Cup was not held this year due to high winds.

6-27
Although a little warm, the race tonight was great. Medium wind and the Racing Fleet was won in the last 100 yards, as Screamin Eagle prevailed over Kevin Findley. Mark Simpson got the gun in the Cruising Fleet. Ninnescah Flyer won the Multihull Fleet. In China Fleet, Amos Cape took first along with his group of good friends. Someone made a comment that it looked like a carnival cruise leaving the dock. Keep coming out as the fun is still on the lake.

6-20
Another windy evening to contend with. The breeze was gusty to say the least. But 7 boats started the race tonight. Other than the wind, it was a pretty nice evening. Mark Simpson took first in cruising fleet with a full contingent of sons aboard. Ron Kinanne got the gun in racing fleet. Amos Cape brought his Hunter out to race and competed in the China fleet. Hope to see more of him and possibly some other boats in the China fleet in the coming weeks. Just a few more races in the spring series. See you out there next week!

6-13
Thanks go to the race committee for enduring  rougher than normal lake conditions to hold a KBRS race. We had 7 boats in the race tonight. Great night for the big boats, indeed. Moby took first in the racing fleet, while Allen Archer was first in the cruising class.  And even from a good distance, you could see the grins on the faces of the Ninnescah Flyer crew living up to the name of the Corsair F27. It's been a season of extremes in conditions, so it's nice to have another race to record. See you all next week.

6-5
Tonight the wind cooperated with kbrs by dropping by race time to around 10knots. And, the temperature was very comfortable.  Race committee set a great 5 mile course and due to the persistent breeze, all boats finished in an hour and 15 minutes. In racing fleet Douthit/Olsen finished first followed closely by Kevin Findley. In cruising fleet Allen Archer took the gun with Frank Couch just over a half minute behind. Larry Greenwood and crew had the Ninnescah Flyer out to race tonight which is always great to see.  Thanks to all, and see you next week!

5-30
Race Committee had a challenging evening. Lots of storms in the state but none bearing down on the lake. Hand held radars in abundance seemed to indicate the weather was going to miss us.  But with the potential for storms to pop up, the race was first postponed and then cancelled as there was lightning in the area. We retrieved the marks and tied up the committee boat. At that time another look at the radar showed a major storm to the north had turned toward the resevoir. 30 minutes later major wind and rain at NSA. Obviously the right call had been made. Anyway hope it fills the lake to the brim.

5-23.
Winds were blowing around 25-30 at 5:30 with little letup in the forecast, so the race committee cancelled the race. Gary Cheatum began the barbeque, and about 40 of us enjoyed the evening under the Afterdeck. Gary Shepard provided the pictures of the last race. Take a look.  See you next week!

5-16
Again we had concern for enough wind to race sailboats. However, the breeze filled in and we were able to have a nice 4 mile W course race. And again the race was completed by all participants in a little over an hour. About 12 knots windspeed from the southeast was really steady throughout the race. In racing fleet Douthit/Olsen finished first, and in cruising fleet Mark Simpson prevailed, followed one second behind by Allen Archer.  Next week following the race we will have the first KBRS cookout of the year. Be sure to attend that for great burgers and hot dogs. See you there!

5-9
The wind picked up just in time to get the second race of the season in tonight. Although it was a light breeze, it was enough to finish a 3 mile race in under an hour. Ron Kinanne prevailed in racing fleet, and Frank Couch in cruising fleet.  Hope to have a bit more breeze and more competitors out next wednesday!

5- 2
Unfortunately the second race of the 2012 season was cancelled due to high wind. There was a fair amount of socializing in place of the race, and we celebrated Jack Kramer's birthday. Looking forward to next week!

4-25
One of the best nights for a first race in recent history. Actually was a little warm to start, but as the sun settled it was very comfortable. Had a nice breeze to start which laid down toward the last quarter of the race. Light wind boat night for sure.
Allen Archer was first in the cruising fleet and Douthit Olsen in racing fleet. Not a single China fleet boat was out tonight. Hope to see them soon.

The 2012 KBRS spring meeting is scheduled for April 22 at 2pm in the Afterdeck.
4-22-12
The KBRS meeting was held.  Schedule is approved as published. there is a possibility the last race of the season will need to be run on Saturday October 13 due to a scheduling conflict.

It was voted that all competitors will need to carry onboard a vhf radio, for safety and informational reasons. Everyone will monitor channel 68 for kbrs information.

China fleet will remain part of KBRS. China fleet course will consist of the first lap of the posted KBRS race. China fleet contestants are asked to finish the race close to the committee boat so as to not interfere with fleet racers rounding the mark.
